Spiros’s taverna in the village serves excellent local food, and he says everything is grown in his garden. There’s also a bar with good coffee, and the village itself feels completely authentic. The location is beautiful. Socratis and Kiki gave us such a lovely welcome. They were generous and friendly while still being considerate and unobtrusive, and they made our holiday a delight. Takis and Maria also helped us with arrangements, outing and restaurant ideas, and car hire. A truly exceptional place.

We’d highly recommend Marcoras if you want somewhere quiet, a little different, and with wonderful hospitality. The hosts, especially Socrates, were brilliant. Maria and Takis were helpful too. They offered recommendations, helped with things around the house, and brought fresh flowers, fruit, pastries, and watermelon for the pool. Socrates even set up the TV so I could watch the Euros. We were visiting Corfu for the first time and wanted somewhere central, near the airport, and away from too much hustle. The estate is beautiful, with lovely scenery. It’s about a 30 minute drive from the airport. The drive is fairly easy, though the last 1 km shortcut is steep and winding. You’ll need a car. Within walking distance there’s only a small market and one taverna, both very good. The pool was a nice way to unwind at the end of the day and enjoy the views. We often had it to ourselves, perhaps because the other guests were out exploring. The main living area had everything we needed, though we ate out every night and didn’t cook. Spiros at Benitses car hire was brilliant. He looked after us and drove us to and from the airport. Aqualand is well worth visiting, and we had great days at Marathias beach and Agios Gordis beach. Just expect a bit of driving each day. Thanks for having us!

The hosts who live at the house were generous, friendly, and always ready to help. Takis was especially helpful, from giving us travel tips to sorting out car trouble. And for Greek food, the local taverna Spiros in the village was the best we found on the island. It’s a lovely little oasis in a cozy village, and felt like home, only better. We loved it so much that we’ll definitely come back.

Spiros and his family were reliable, helpful, and easy to reach throughout our stay after arranging our car hire, transfers, and airport pickup with Spiros at Benitses Car Rental. He met us when we arrived, took us and our luggage safely to the Marcoras Estate, then brought our rental car and gave us a detailed map of places to see around Corfu. We were also introduced to Spiros and Voula at the village taverna in Strongyli. Their homemade Corfoit and Greek meals were delicious, and their family were so kind and welcoming. We went back several times. We spent two idyllic weeks at Poet’s House, in the first floor apartment, with our children aged 10 and 8. It’s a unique historic family apartment, and we loved relaxing by the beautifully landscaped, well maintained pool. Takis, his parents Socrates and Kiki, and Nella the friendly family dog were attentive, welcoming hosts, both before and during our stay. They gave us consistently excellent suggestions for uncrowded sandy beaches, local places serving authentic Corfoit and Greek food, and other places to visit. They also helped with airport transfers, car hire, parking, and supermarket recommendations. We hope to return to the Marcoras estate and Strongyli village soon!
