Olive Grove Studios & Apartments

The location is handy, close to restaurants and bars, with two beaches nearby, one about a 20 minute walk and the other around 30 minutes. You don’t get planes overhead here like in some parts of Svoronata. I stayed last week and loved it. The pool was great, and the bar was open all day. It was a bit pricey, but convenient. Rooms were clean and serviced daily.

The pool and gardens are well kept, and the bins were emptied every day in the late afternoon as promised. Towels and sheets were changed once during our seven night stay, as we were told at check-in. The rooms are very basic, with a fridge, kettle, toaster, and not many utensils. The wet room is small, and there’s nowhere to keep toiletries dry. A shelf under the mirror would help. We had very little contact with staff. The evening before leaving, we asked where to leave the key and air conditioning control because we’d be gone before anyone opened the kiosk at 0900. We were disappointed that no one asked if we’d enjoyed the stay or if everything was alright. The woman seemed focused on checking our room number to see if we owed money, which we didn’t, and didn’t really engage with us. This was our fifth visit to the Olive Groves, but it had been 15 years since the last one, and it now has different owners. Looking back, we wish we hadn’t returned. The previous owners and staff were much more welcoming and engaging. Still, if you want somewhere quiet and don’t plan to spend much time in your room, that may suit you. I’d suggest hiring a car to explore the beautiful Island of Kefalonia.

Set among olive groves, it’s a peaceful, friendly place, with clean, tidy rooms that are well maintained and set up for self catering. Shops, bars, and restaurants are about 15 minutes away, while the beach is a 30 minute walk. Taxis are limited and expensive, though local businesses make it easy to hire a car. Prices at the complex are expensive.

We loved staying in this chilled out spot and would come back. The rooms are plain but clean and practical. Staff were lovely, though they seemed stretched thin for cleaning. The bar was good and the pool was OK.
