Casa Calda

We stayed two nights in a spacious room that was decorated nicely in a traditional style. The bed was really comfortable, and we slept well. Our room was on the semi-first floor, though, and didn't get much natural light. Other guests sometimes had breakfast on the lovely terrace before we were up, so we had to close the windows to keep out the noise. Next time I'll ask for an upstairs room. The Wi-Fi worked properly, which was another plus. Casa Calda is close to one of Syrrako's few parking spots, and that makes a difference when you arrive with luggage. There are no roads for cars in the village, just steep, very narrow alleys, so getting your bags to your accommodation is a bit of a challenge. Parking is first come, first served and isn't always available, but you can leave your luggage near the hotel and park farther away. We had car trouble on our last day, and Vassilis helped carry our bags from the room to our car, which was parked 900 meters away. I was grateful for that. The location is quiet, since it's set a little way from the main square's cafes and restaurants. You do have to walk more through those steep alleys, so be ready for some exercise. Mrs. Popi and Vassilis were lovely hosts and helped with whatever we needed. They made a different breakfast each day, with so much food we couldn't finish it, and we enjoyed it on the terrace with a mountain view.

The hosts were friendly and helpful, and the yard was lovely. Our spacious, comfortable room was very clean and looked out toward the mountains. It's pet friendly too. I'd recommend it.

My girlfriend and I spent three nights here and had a wonderful time. The breakfast was delicious, and the family's taverna, “Sarika”, served one of the best meals we've had in Greece. We loved the hospitality and would definitely come back.

The building is about 150 years old, belonged to Vassilis's great-grandfather, and was turned into a hotel around ten years ago. It made for a lovely, authentic Greek holiday, and our room had a wonderful view of the surrounding mountains. It was beautifully decorated, with a huge walk-in shower, a heater inside, a comfortable bench, and a big window looking out at the view. We felt so warmly welcomed in the high mountains of Syrrako and Tzoumerka. The tiny hotel was overbooked because two guests had reserved the same room at the same time on different platforms, but Vassilis and his mother did everything they could to host us well. Vassilis quickly understood what gluten-free meant for my diet and brought out everything he could think of, including yogurt with honey, tahine, fruit, and cheese.
