Alkyon Rooms

This was our third holiday here, and we’re glad we came back. The rooms and swimming pool were excellent and clean, the staff really polite, and breakfast was abundant. The location and town are a good choice for anyone wanting to feel the pulse of Thassos. Totally recommend it.

A lovely hotel. The newly renovated rooms were spacious, clean and cosy, just as the pictures show. There was more than enough breakfast.

I recently booked a three-night stay at Alkyon Hotel, split into two reservations, one for two nights and one for one night, because the booking system wouldn’t let me reserve the whole stay at once. I made the bookings more than a month ahead and got a good rate. Then, just two days before check-in, the hotel cancelled the first, two-night reservation without notice or a valid reason. It seemed clear that the hotel had raised its prices after I booked, and because I’d secured a much cheaper rate, they cancelled my reservation at the last minute to sell the room for more. They didn’t honor a reservation I’d made in good faith. Management put profit ahead of customers and showed no accountability. I was extremely upset and asked for a full refund for both reservations. They returned only half the money, leaving me shortchanged. The whole thing felt unprofessional, dishonest and downright exploitative. It left me feeling like I’d been part of a scam. If you’re thinking of booking here, think twice. They might cancel your reservation on a whim, leave you stranded, and resell the room at a higher price. This business doesn’t value customer satisfaction or ethical practices. Book at your own risk!

The room we had in the main building was spotless, though smaller and less attractive than the villa rooms shown in many of the Booking photos. You can hear quite a bit through the walls, even other guests turning on their showers. Since it wasn't a particularly low price, I wouldn't recommend that room. Still, those drawbacks didn't spoil our stay, and I'd recommend the hotel for its friendly service and handy location. The pool was great too, and everything we needed was close by, including the ferry, about 400m away. Although the hotel sits among restaurants, it wasn't noisy. Breakfast came with four egg dishes to choose from, plus a buffet of yogurt, cereal, jam, butter, Nutella, a small selection of meats and cheeses, plenty of pastries and crepes from their bakery. There wasn't much fruit or in the way of vegetables, but I thought it was more than enough for breakfast. Just be aware there are two parts to the hotel: the main building, with rooms facing the street or port, and the villas in the back around the pool. Our room was in the main building, by the pool.
