The villa’s strong point is its location, just a few minutes from the beach and main streets. At first glance, it looked like a spacious, nice apartment. But Villa Zanet’s owner, Mr Dimitris, and the incompetent Barcino travel agency could potentially ruin your holiday. The owner should look up “hospitality” in the dictionary. He was rude, nervous, and impolite, and didn’t seem to care about guests’ satisfaction. The people at Barcino were just as uninterested and incompetent. There were plenty of other problems. The TV seemed to be only for decoration: it didn’t work, or barely worked, with just a few Greek channels. There weren’t any window blinds, only curtains, which didn’t keep the morning light out. In the morning, or when it was cloudy or raining, there was no hot water. The wifi was poor. If it rains, you’re stuck in the apartment without hot water, a working TV, or decent wifi. A lot of guests complained and left dissatisfied, so it wasn’t just us. Think twice before booking this villa or going on holiday with Barcino.

The host was very friendly and happy to advise us on restaurants and beaches. The town center and some archaeological sites are close by, and the town beach is an easy walk and not too crowded. We also found street parking. Everything was perfect: clean sheets and towels, plus enough hot water. Highly recommended!

It’s cheap, I guess, and the furniture is okay. But if you’re a light sleeper, getting rest is tough. The church bell rings a lot in the morning, kids play at the school in the afternoon, and neighbors sit at tables in the yard late into the night. The worst thing is that there isn’t air conditioning in every room. At night it gets so hot and humid that you can’t sleep, just lie there sweating until 5AM, when the building finally cools down. I tried airing the rooms out and even moved the bed so my head stuck out onto the small balcony, but then there were mosquitoes. Tonight I’ll sleep on the kitchen floor.

We were happy with our stay in vila Zanet. The apartment was clean and nicely decorated, the location was great, and the owners are lovely people.
