The hotel is well placed if you have a car and want to explore the island on day trips, and it’s also close to the airport. My room had everything I needed, and it was impeccably clean with all the appliances working. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful, and breakfast was enough to get the day started. There’s a nice Greek tavern up in the village, about an eight-minute walk away. It’s a nice family-run hotel in Rodos, and I highly recommend it.

I’d suggest staying somewhere else. The hotel feels abandoned, and the room was dirty, unbearably hot and smelled bad. The sheets and beds were dirty too, the AC didn’t work, and even the bathroom was unclean. The location was very inconvenient, far from the nicest beaches and from various restaurants.

We stayed at Ivory Hotel (Theologos, Rhodos) in July 2025, and it was one of the most stressful and unprofessional hotel experiences we’ve had. I’m sharing what happened to warn other travelers. We arrived with a confirmed voucher from our travel agency, but staff said there was no reservation under our name. We had a confirmation number and the agency had validated it beforehand. We later found out other tourists had run into the same issue, including people who booked through Booking.com. It seemed the hotel had overbooked. No one at reception could explain. The receptionist wasn’t there when we arrived; an elderly maintenance man came instead, made calls, and said we’d be sent to another hotel for one night. There was no apology or explanation. They drove us in an old, barely working car that felt over 35 years old, with a broken speedometer and tachometer. At the other hotel, we were told our return to Ivory Hotel depended on its owner. We were anxious and confused about where we’d stay for the rest of the holiday, despite having paid and confirmed in advance. The following day, the agency said someone from Ivory Hotel would collect us at 12:30 PM. We waited over an hour in direct sun at 38°C, unable to reach the local representative or hotel. When the receptionist finally arrived, she said it wasn’t her fault because she also worked somewhere else. Again, no apology, just a shrug. The hotel was clearly short-staffed: two overwhelmed cleaners, an elderly man ironing towels until 11 PM, and a receptionist juggling multiple jobs who was rarely at the desk. Calls often went unanswered, and it was hard to get help. We were first put in a room we hadn’t booked and told we’d have to move again in two days because our actual room “wasn’t clean yet.” After we protested, they finally gave us the right room. It had dirty sheets, a stained blanket, a disgusting bathroom, AC leaking water across the balcony, and a thin, flimsy entrance door that made us worry someone could blow it open. We asked for the room to be cleaned, for fresh towels and the trash to be taken out. The receptionist said the cleaners were too busy. Nothing had been done by evening, so we had to leave the trash in the hallway and get our own towels from a shelf outside. We rented a car through the hotel too. A sign at reception said €40 per day, but they charged us €50 for one day without explanation. The photos online were also completely misleading: the rooms were run-down, old and poorly maintained. It felt like the hotel was close to falling apart, both structurally and administratively. There was no respect for confirmed bookings, overbooking without explanation, unsafe conditions, poor hygiene, absent and unprofessional staff, and awful communication. Ivory Hotel ruined what should have been a relaxing holiday. It’s a disgrace to tourism in Rhodos. We strongly urge you to stay away. You’ve been warned.

Our holiday was so enjoyable here that I can’t imagine it being as good anywhere else. The hotel was calm among olive trees, and we found peace, privacy and shelter. For a young couple, the room had enough space and what we needed: about 20 m2, a small kitchenette, balcony and working AC. The bedsheets weren’t changed and the trash wasn’t taken out, but we didn’t expect that for the price. If you ask, they’ll provide the service without any problem. We booked mainly because of the price, but the experience was what made us stay. In the mornings I’d get coffee, use the pool, then we’d make our own breakfast and head out to explore the island. The hotel is right by a bus stop, handy if you don’t drive, and there’s a supermarket across the street. The beach is a lovely ten minutes away. In 2024, the hotel was being reconstructed, so there was no breakfast or open kitchen. Still, the owner looked after guests each morning and was very kind and accommodating, the sort of person you want to spend time around. He even offered to drive us to the aerodrom on our last day, but we turned it down, which was silly of us. Janis, who watched over the hotel most of the time, was always helpful. With him around, I felt nothing could spoil our holiday. The only thing missing from the room was a Zeppelin to take us to Turkey for a visit. Sadly, it was broken, so we stayed within the island’s borders. I wholeheartedly recommend Ivory hotel. Thank you!

The pool water was clean and a good temperature. The shower tray was broken and hadn’t been replaced, and the soap holder was dirty. The door lock didn’t work properly, so I couldn’t lock it with a key; it took two days to fix. They gave me wine in return. The Wi-Fi was weak. A bus to Rhodes stops right in front of the credit, but it doesn’t run often.
