Hyatt Regency Thessaloniki Hotel

We stayed for three nights in early May, when the sun was gentle and the breeze light. It was the start of our two weeks in Greece after flying in from Germany. The hotel grounds are stunning, with gardens, an outdoor pool, tennis courts, an indoor pool and a gym. It really feels like a holiday resort. There’s also a casino close by, a nice place to unwind. The city center is about a 25-minute ride away. We used the hotel’s free shuttle both ways, which was handy, but you do need to reserve a ride ahead of time. We only ate at the formal restaurant. The menu is simple, the food was excellent, and there’s a good range of wines. The outdoor seating was lovely for breakfast and dinner. The stay was more than we expected, and I’d highly recommend it.

The outdoor area looked beautiful, though it was too cold for me to enjoy it. Downstairs, the lobby bar had good cold drinks and snacks. My room was amazing, with a very comfortable bed, a spacious shower and a bath. The reception team were friendly and helpful when I arrived, and spoke clear English, which made my first trip to Greece easier. Everyone was so welcoming, even in a busy hotel. Thanks for a very enjoyable stay. I highly recommend it.

It was my first trip to Greece, and I’m leaving with such good memories. I’d love to come back. The hotel is a bit far from town, so getting around without a car can be hard, but the shuttle was really convenient. My room was large, clean, and surrounded by nature, which I loved. All the staff were kind. Maria at check-in and the concierge wearing the gold badge on the mornings of the 24th and 27th were especially wonderful. Sorry, I forgot your name! Thanks 💙

We paid nearly €300 per room each night, but most of what we expected from a resort wasn’t available. The outdoor pool and pool bar were closed, and parts of the indoor wellness area, including the saunas, were being renovated. Apart from the indoor pool, there was hardly anything to use, and with a small child we could only use that until 1 PM. The price should have reflected this. There were virtually no activities or facilities for children, despite the large property, which was one of the reasons we chose the hotel. Breakfast cost €50 for two and was a letdown: stale croissants, scrambled eggs and hot dogs. Our booking was for two rooms with king beds, but we got one twin and one king room. Staff wouldn’t change it, even though the hotel was half empty. The bed was poorly made, too, hardly what you’d expect from a place claiming five-star standards. Staff were generally polite, but check-out ended with an unnecessary dispute and confusion about the deposit refund, caused by the hotel. For a hotel charging luxury prices, this was very disappointing and not worth the money.
