Classic Villa Ottoman

The house is an old Ottoman place spread across three floors, renovated with a lot of effort. The floors are uneven, the stairs creak, and the low doorways have a bulge. The little kitchen is dark, bare, and uninviting, though who comes to Thessaloniki to make breakfast anyway? What bothered us most was the privacy in the two bathrooms. Glass panels and doors were all that separated them from the rest of the house. Curtains gave enough privacy around the bath and shower, but not for other uses, especially as neither the glass door nor the upstairs bedroom door could be shut. The tight space meant the curtain kept touching the toilet and whoever was using it, so we tried to tell ourselves it got washed between rentals, though that seemed unlikely. The heating was set to 25 degrees Celsius and wouldn't respond when we tried to lower it or switch it off.
