Hotel El Greco

We’ve stayed here twice and will be back on our next trip to Thessaloniki. After bad experiences with other hotels in town on previous visits, El Greco hotel lived up to everything we expected. The location is superb, and although it’s on a busy street, we requested a quiet room and slept well after a long drive. The breakfast has plenty of options for a family with kids. Thanks so much for the hospitality!

I’ve stayed here more than ten times in the past five years, and it used to be a consistently pleasant experience. The staff are very friendly, the location is excellent, about 10 minutes from the town centre, and breakfast is quite good. Noise hasn’t bothered me with the windows shut. Student groups are often there, but they’re manageable. On my latest visit, though, I found that some rooms have been refurbished while others are old and need work. There was no hot water anywhere in the hotel on the first day, and it seemed there was no backup system to deal with it. Cleanliness is generally okay, but varies in some areas, and the elevator is very small and can be inconvenient. I really like this hotel and would like to keep staying here. I hope they consider a full renovation of the older rooms and facilities so it can be as good a choice as it was before.

We were happy with El Greco’s location and what we got overall. The rooms were quiet, clean, and well ventilated, which matters to us in summer. We asked for a room at the back and they kindly gave us one. Parking is behind the hotel and costs 25€ per day for an SUV. The shower was a little small, and my bed was small and squeaky. The other two beds were comfortable, so it was only the third bed that let things down. That’s why I’m giving 4/5.

Clean rooms and a pretty good stay. The food was somewhere in the middle, neither the best nor the worst, and the elevator is odd and takes a long time. I’d definitely go back.
