A functional, stylish modern hotel with an almost Nordic feel, a bit like city box tallinn. The price is good, and having reception staffed from 10 to 6 each day is a nice touch, especially if you’re less confident with self check-in. You do get the door and room codes by message on check-in day, though. That could be a hassle if your wifi is patchy while travelling and you can’t get the message.

The 9.6 “Exceptional” rating on Booking.com is what led me to book Icon Central SKG, but my stay was a nightmare. The shower drain sent an intense, nauseating sewage smell through the room. It was so strong that breathing or staying inside felt impossible. I left the balcony wide open all night, but the smell stayed, and I had to put up with constant loud traffic noise from the main street. Staff sprayed air freshener, which just mixed with the sewage odor and made it worse. They didn’t change rooms, fix the problem, or give me a refund. The only offer was a “discount next time,” which I found completely unacceptable. A place advertised with a 9.6 rating should at least provide a clean, livable room, not one that smells like a sewer.
