Tropical Sol

The location is very central, but the hotel feels stuck in the 80s and badly needs updating. There are lots of empty tables and chairs outside, yet you can’t sit there unless you buy drinks from the bar. I’ve never come across that rule at a hotel before. The bartender was rude and told us to stay on our balcony if we didn’t want to order anything. Not professional.

It’s a very old hotel with very old furniture. You can’t sit around the hotel with your own water or other drinks; they insist you either buy from the bar or stay in your room. That was really rude. We can’t recommend it.

The noise ruined my stay. I could hear everything from downstairs until at least 2 a.m., and I couldn’t sleep at all. It felt more like punishment than a holiday, and I won’t return or recommend the place. It’s a small hotel, so don’t expect too much. There’s a €5 daily hotel tax, which supposedly varies by category, and this hotel is meant to have 4.5 stars, which I can’t understand. It felt like they were squeezing extra money out of guests. The tax had to be paid in cash and they didn’t issue an invoice. Breakfast was okay.

The pool food was great, with large portions, good music, and a fantastic bartender. The atmosphere was all good vibes. Breakfast leaned local, with a few international choices like bacon, different kinds of eggs, beans, ham, and cheese. It was well stocked during the first hour and tasted great. There are lots of markets, bars, and taverns on the hotel’s street. I’d come back. We stayed at the end of June 2024. Staff were all lovely, and the cozy rooms were always clean. The only trouble was the shower: some water leaked out and drained into the middle of the bathroom, leaving it slippery and wet. We put a towel down so we wouldn’t track wet footprints all through the room.
