Utopia Blu

We had a pleasant stay, and the staff were fantastic. There were lots of lovely cats around, and they seemed relatively well cared for compared with some places in Greece. The hotel itself is beautiful, with lovely architecture, style, comfort, and design. Food was high quality with a good range. Alberto on the grill was a real highlight. We tried both restaurants: the Italian was spot on, with very generous portions, while the Mediterranean one was overrated and the menu didn’t really match the cuisine. The biggest letdown was the beach. The hotel’s “private” section was run down, the sunbeds were dirty and very low quality, and the “free shuttle” had gaps of hours at a time. If you want a nice beach holiday, this isn’t the hotel for you. The pool choice and number of bars were fantastic for relaxing and getting drinks, but the pool was freezing because it wasn’t heated. You got used to it once you were in. We visited the spa too. The massage was lovely and fairly priced, but the hot tub was broken and the pool wasn’t heated. The steam room was room temperature with no steam, while the sauna was lovely. The hotel doesn’t seat guests at meal times, so with two entrances some people waited while others jumped in and took tables. Cold weather meant nobody wanted to sit outside, and it was busier than usual, but for the price I expected a better system. We were there for a week in May 2026, just a few days after the hotel opened for the season. Check-in was poor and disorganized. Only one person was taking guests to rooms in golf carts, and 12 couples were waiting. It dragged on and made a bad first impression. There was also a wedding during our stay. It looked beautiful, but the wedding party had to queue at the same bar as the other guests, which felt odd and meant poor service for both them and the regular guests. Overall it was a pleasant experience, but I wouldn’t return because for this price I think you could find a hotel that offers all of the above.
