Achillion Hotel

The breakfast was okay, and the WiFi worked well and stayed stable. The room itself felt dated, though, and we found a dead roach inside. There were also several flying roaches on the balcony, so we hesitated to open the windows.

We ended up stranded here because of the flood in early September 2023, and it turned out to be a very good place to be. The situation was stressful and uncertain for the hotel operators and their staff too, but everyone remained friendly and helpful. It’s a simple, clean hotel right in Trikala’s city center, and a handy base for exploring the city and nearby area in pleasant weather, summer or winter.

We had a good night’s sleep in a clean room with the things we needed. It wasn’t large, but it was fine for two, and the beds were comfortable. We were on the third and top floor, overlooking the small square and river, and check-in was immediate. Breakfast was fresh, with a few choices at the small buffet. The dining room looked really nice too. We’d read some bad reviews before our group trip around the area, so I was concerned, but Hotel Achillion left a great impression. We’ll stay there again when we return to Trikala.

The hotel is right in the city center on a pedestrian street, with a warm welcome and great service from the staff. Our room was a decent size, with good heating and double-glazed windows that kept things quiet. WiFi is free. From the breakfast area you get nice views of the river and central bridge. Parking is available for guests, and there’s paid parking 150 m away.
