Aeton Melathron

Booking by phone was really easy, and for the price the experience was great. At Hotel Aeton Malathron in Trikala, the staff made me feel welcome and the hospitality was top-notch. My room was clean and well kept, and breakfast was delicious with plenty of options. I had a fantastic stay and will definitely return. Highly recommend!

We had an awful time at the restaurant. It took an hour for the first appetizer to arrive, and it looked nothing like the picture. The burger was good, which I was glad to have ordered after we finally got the meat and cheese plate. Nobody checked whether we needed anything else, and we had to keep getting their attention and asking about the food. The restaurant wasn’t even busy. I’ve included some images. The room had a nice view, and the pool was good and deep, which you don’t find everywhere. The hotel was clean, most staff were friendly, and breakfast was actually quite good. I liked that it was self-service and had coffee. I don’t like being lied to, so I want to start with why we booked: we called hotels to ask if their gym and spa were open, and chose this one because they said they were. When we went to use them, we were told only the pool was open because of COVID. Maybe there was a language barrier, but they still shouldn’t act as if they understand when they don’t.

The staff and service were really great, and the room was clean and satisfying overall. I’d recommend replacing the pillows, as they weren’t very comfortable. The main downside for me was breakfast, which needs serious improvement. It could include more traditional regional tastes, or the hotel could offer fewer choices but make them more special. The hotel is outside downtown Trikala, so you really need a car to get between it and the city center quickly.

The service was fast and very polite. Some small updates would help, like the shower heads, curtains, and bits of decoration. The elevator jams now and then. The steps could be removed too, since they aren’t really necessary and make it hard for disabled guests to reach their rooms.
