Tavani Villas

We came with three kids, the youngest 16, and I wouldn’t recommend these villas to a family with small children. There are some good things: the beds were comfortable, there were plenty of dishes, and the first-floor bathroom had a good shower. A pleasant young woman checked us in, and there was a fruit basket in the fridge. At first everything looked new and nicely furnished. The kids used the table tennis table downstairs a couple of times. The beach is close, there are other lovely beaches a short drive away, and a nice town is within walking distance. Just a personal gripe, the pillow was too high for me. The balcony looks over a construction site and only a bit of sea, nothing like the photo, which was a disappointing surprise. The spiral staircase is steep and wasn’t shown in the pictures. Our 1.6-year-old found it dangerous, and it kept us stressed all week. The upstairs bathroom is small, and the shower fitting leaks. The sink is shallow, with a floor-mounted faucet that splashes you when you turn it on. I can’t see how you’re meant to wash there, a regular faucet would make more sense. One patch of living room tiles was always cold and wet, so our toddler kept slipping and we had to put a towel down. The nearby beach is nice, though a couple of times there was a strong hydrogen sulfide smell, and the way down and back up is steep. The air conditioners are oddly placed and blow right at your face. Downstairs felt useless to us: two sofas side by side that open into double beds, no bathroom, but a washing machine. There was just one teaspoon in the whole house. I asked for another and nobody brought one. No detergent either, though that was okay. The bin was tiny for such a big space, so we took rubbish out twice a day. There’s no dishwasher or microwave. If they’re calling these super villas, they could have included those. We arrived expecting one thing and got something quite different. It feels like they aimed for something special, but something went wrong.
