Caretta Paradise Resort & Waterpark

The hotel itself was gorgeous, and the pools were fab. It was well kept and clean, with pretty renovated rooms, lovely reception staff, and a welcoming, helpful feel there. The main problem in the room was ants. There's not much around the location, but we enjoyed going to Rice & Spice several nights. The food at the hotel wasn't good, and the service was probably the biggest letdown because some staff were rude and impatient. At breakfast, my family and I were the last ones in Burger House before it closed. We left, and the restaurant shut. I realised I'd left my very expensive designer glasses there and went straight back. The woman at the desk abruptly said no when I asked if they'd been handed in. She and a waiter just stared me down until I left, without helping or giving me any information. No other families or people were in the restaurant when I left the glasses, so I've been left wondering if a staff member took them because they were expensive and from a well-known designer. It was a very strange reaction from the woman when I simply asked if she'd seen them. After that incident, I wouldn't return.

We visited for a family trip in October. The hotel has great facilities for kids, with pools and activities, and all in all I'd say it's a great hotel. The beach, though, is very, very small, so don't come expecting a big white one. The wasps were the worst part. I don't understand why they don't put up traps or at least try spraying. Eating outside was impossible without being surrounded by them. Also, none of the bathroom doors have locks, and they're made of glass.

The resort has an amazing concept and a lot of space, and the Albanian team were really sweet. They were the reason I didn't give it one star. The rooms are small, though we were lucky to get a ground-floor one with access to the swimming pool. The food quality was very low, and that's why I wouldn't bring my family back or recommend the place to anyone.

The rooms were clean and great for families, and the facilities kept the kids happy. We had lovely weather too. The food was the real letdown. There are plenty of places nearby, so I'd eat out. Just be careful at the à la carte restaurant: they brought all three courses together, so order one dish at a time.
