Golden Coast Boutique

The food was fresh and tasty, with lots of choices at breakfast, lunch, and dinner. I loved the desserts too, and the bar drinks were great. Statis, the bartender, deserves a special thank you for his delicious cocktails and such a friendly welcome. Golden Coast Resort was beautiful, very clean, and had stunning sea views. The beach was only a few steps away, with easy access to the water. It was a happy, relaxing holiday, and I'd love to return someday.

We had a really enjoyable stay. The room was comfortable and clean, the meals were delicious with plenty of variety, and the staff were warm and hospitable. The resort is in a small village, so hiring a car for a day or two is a good idea if you want to explore the island. The beach is a little windy and stony, with a gently sloping shore, but we still found it very pleasant.

The beach, lovely rooms, good food, and smiling staff (though not everyone) were the highlights. This was our first booking here, and we were all quite impressed. It is a long way from the city, so you'll definitely need a car, even though the bus runs frequently. We'd be glad to come back.

The next morning at breakfast, there were cockroaches beside the food platters and around the buffet. It was a disaster. We stayed only because we couldn't get our money back through the agency, and although they upgraded us, the holiday in Zakynthos still left us with a bitter taste. The room photos don't match reality. They make the rooms look much bigger, but two people can barely pass each other, and there's no room for a stroller if you have kids. We had no shampoo, shower curtain, or anything else, and shower water flooded into the room. Don't expect toiletries or even a bottle of water in this so-called 4-star hotel. Those stars don't feel real. The all-inclusive drinks came from dispensers, with just four cocktails that we couldn't drink because they seemed like nothing but coloring and chemicals. To get water in the room, we had to fill a bottle ourselves at the dispenser. That was embarrassing, and staff also told us to buy water at the supermarket despite the all-inclusive arrangement. Such a shame.
