The location is great, right on the beachfront with easy access to a lovely beach. The facilities were fine for the price, and the location works well if that's all you need. The main problem was the service. Something in the facilities needed fixing, and they took care of it overnight while we stayed in another villa for a night. But when I raised a complaint and asked to discuss it further, communication stopped. They didn't respond to my emails or calls. I understand it wasn't an easy conversation, but I felt they weren't professional enough to run this kind of business.

The staff at Villa Uranus were hospitable and very nice, and did an excellent job looking after the villa. Its setting is beautiful, with lovely countryside around it, and the views from the back are gorgeous. The pictures in the brochure were accurate. The towns nearby are very tourist-focused and a bit grimy, though, and driving means dealing with very narrow, poorly maintained roads.

We paid a high price for a seaside villa, but other guests in the area meant we were pushed back. Watch out for that. The kitchen was unusable: neither the stove nor the broken coffee maker worked, and the hood hangs so low you can't cook without hitting your head. There was no soap or shampoo in the bathrooms. The beds were terrible. We had booked two months ahead, but nothing was ready when we arrived, and they gave us broken portable beds. The regular bedroom beds are only big enough for one person. When we complained, their "hutspa" answers were vague. If you want a horrible holiday for a very high price, go ahead. At least now you know.

The villas are amazing, with wonderful views across to Kefalonia and a private beach. It's a fabulous place, with everything you'd want in a villa.
