Triton Authentic Cretan Hotel

The beach nearby was painful to walk into because it was covered in stones, and it didn't seem suitable for children. The sunbeds were in poor condition, with no control over who used them. Around the pool, non-guests were also allowed in, which made it extremely noisy. Sanitizing was happening while people were still in and around the pool, which felt unsafe and unacceptable. The food was awful. Frozen fish sticks were served as a main course, and the buffet was repetitive and low quality. Ice cream was included in the all-inclusive package, but only after lunch and dinner, with long queues and very little choice. That was not acceptable for a hotel claiming to be 4 stars. From beginning to end, our stay at this so-called 4-star hotel was disappointing. It doesn't come close to that standard, and I wouldn't recommend it.

The breakfast spread was plentiful, but unfortunately everything was cold. We arrived about an hour before service ended. The hotel feels a little worn, though it was still a nice place to stay, especially if you enjoy having a pool. It's right on the beach, with Zorbas restaurant next door. The town is tiny, but after a few hours I liked its general atmosphere.

Neither room's AC could cool it down, so our nights were hot, restless, and uncomfortable. The staff just shrugged when we raised it. The waterfront view wasn't worth the heat, and trees and power lines blocked much of it. The rooms were also split up despite our request, though if anyone had replied to our emails or calls over the five months we tried, we could have arranged to be in the same building. Breakfast was generous but not very good, while the cleaning staff were extremely nice. The village is a gem and worth visiting, but avoid the Triton until the AC works.

We've been staying at the Triton for almost 20 years. Since new management took over in 2018, it's still a nice hotel, though more expensive than it used to be. Beach towels are available for a 5 euro fee, and breakfast is buffet style with hot and cold choices. On our latest trip, we booked a lovely room in the Annex and were very happy with it. The balcony was spacious, with a long view over the Libyan Sea, and the comfortable bed and lovely linens made the stay restful. At check-in, the receptionist noticed my birthday was the next day and surprised us with all-inclusive hotel meals. That was so kind and unexpected, thank you! The staff are friendly and helpful. Breakfast was very good, especially the tasty omelettes. There was a wide selection at the evening buffet, and the dessert buffet was a treat, particularly the rose confite jam.
