The pool was dirty, and swimming was only allowed from 10am to 8pm. There was hardly anyone at the bar, if you can call it that, the lawns were unkempt, and spiders were all over the balconies. It’s convenient for the main road, but getting to reception or the room means climbing around 30 steps. The place may have been one of the best when it was built, but now it feels outdated and barely functional. What we arrived at didn’t look like the booking site photos. We waited 20 minutes for someone to check us in, then found the room wasn’t ready. Inside, the floors were dirty and there were no pillowcases or more than one bath towel. After another 20 minutes waiting outside in the heat, with no drinks offered, the room still had dirty floors. One AC unit didn’t work, the tub and bathroom mirror had rust, and the bathroom had only one small light. The kitchenette was tiny, with one kind of glass and just one bowl. The mattresses felt like they were on their last night, with every spring noticeable. Disappointing, whatever you pay.

We first got apt A1, but its second bedroom was dark and had no balcony, and there weren’t enough kitchen utensils for four people. The owner arranged a move, which we really appreciated. There were wasps and mosquitoes, which the owner couldn’t do anything about, and no teatowel for drying dishes. Apt B1 had a beautiful lake view, with balcony access from both bedrooms. The apartment was clean and comfortable, with regular cleaning, hot water, and a decent shower. The pool area was clean and comfortable too, sunny until late afternoon, and had a toilet and shower that came in handy on checkout day. The TV let us watch the Queens funeral, though we wouldn’t usually need it. The owner was friendly and tried to help with requests. It’s quiet and fairly rural, and not actually in Gouvia, which suited us. There are a few restaurants within walking distance and a supermarket about 15 minutes away on foot. Both A1 and B1 have fantastic views over the lake, the kind other people drive over to see.

Absolutely the worst holiday experience I’ve had. There was no warm water, the place was dirty, nobody came to clean, and they lied about it. When we complained, the owner was rude and still wanted 100 euros a night. I don’t know how this place got good reviews. It’s a shame. Be careful choosing somewhere for your vacation.

Lovely family-run apartments, especially the pool and bar area. The owners did everything they could to make our stay a great one. We’ll definitely book again.
