Galaxy Hotel

The rooms were decent, the breakfast very basic, and the sea view from our room was nice. But the worst part of our stay was waking up to cigar smoke filling our floor. Whatever guests do in their own rooms or on their balconies, the smoke was getting into the shared hallway, where children and nonsmoking guests have to pass. That’s unhygienic and unhealthy. What bothered me too was that the cleaning staff didn’t seem to notice or say anything, perhaps because they didn’t want to be blamed. If guests are inconsiderate enough to let smoke spread through the hotel, management should protect everyone’s wellbeing.

The views at sunrise from our room and the private beach were unforgettable, with the sea and little islands out front and green hills on either side. The hotel itself was very clean and quiet, set in a lovely natural area. My kids had a great time in the pool, and I felt comfortable about their safety because the woman in charge was so attentive. The private beach was clean and nicely set up, with a sandy section and a rocky one. Staff were welcoming throughout, especially at reception. The playground is spacious and has swings and slides, though the ground could be made safer and more fun with sand, particularly since it’s by the beach. We had a wonderful stay and came away with precious family memories.

The staff’s warmth made this feel like a family holiday. Breakfast had a good variety, and the pool was great, with a lovely restaurant. We ate there three nights, enjoying the pizza and other dishes in the evening, and only went to Porto Heli on our third day. There’s a fantastic beach about 300 metres to the left of the hotel, with turquoise water and pebbles. I liked it much more than the hotel beach, a real gem. The hotel is seven minutes from Porto Heli, so you need a car. Our room was a little small, but had good AC and a great sea-facing balcony. The shower was basic, while the cleaning service was very good. We’ll return.

The food was delicious, with traditional Greek dishes, and the staff were attentive and friendly. The Galaxy sits beside one of the Peloponnese’s most picturesque beaches.
