We spent a week in Villa Rose and would happily return. It was clean, had everything we needed, and felt roomier than the photos made it look. The garden and pool were a real treat, especially for a refreshing swim and evenings playing cards outside. It’s in a quieter spot, while the town itself is lively. The beach is just 20-25 minutes away.

I stayed overnight in the mountains while visiting Vamos for a traditional Cretan cooking class. The room was beautifully decorated, the location was wonderfully quiet, and I really liked the body lotion. There was also a complimentary bottle of Raki for guests, though it wasn’t for taking away. A few things could be better. There wasn’t any staff on site apart from a caretaker, who didn’t interact with us. The shower is very small and water easily gets onto the floor outside it. The air-conditioning in the living area of our villa, Villa Sage, didn’t work. Parking may also be a problem since there’s no clearly marked space.

The dogs in the neighborhood were left outside barking all night, which was horrific. Otherwise, Elianthos Villas has a lovely setting and pool, and the villas themselves are spacious and well appointed. The people were gracious and kind.

The location was terrible, and the rooms were dirty. Our sheets and towels weren’t changed or replaced during our stay. The staff were the laziest I’ve ever encountered, including the person preparing breakfast. There’s also a ykitchen decor. I wouldn’t recommend staying here, and it definitely shouldn’t be called villas.
