We were greeted in a friendly, welcoming way when we arrived. Our upstairs room was small, but had just enough space. The hotel is quite remote, and much more relaxed and chilled than Laganas, where we’d stayed before. The nearest shops didn’t sell cigarettes, which was a pain. The decking area is nice and large, though there were a crazy number of ants on it. The fridge smelled strongly of onions and the wardrobe was musty. The wet room was a bit basic and old fashioned, and the shower was a bit of a nightmare: its head was attached too low, and water flooded out of the room all over the bathroom. The Wi-Fi was poor and mostly didn’t work.

The quiet courtyard was full of trees and beautiful flowers, and our room was spotless with all the amenities we needed. Artemis Pension Zante in Agios Nikolaos, Zakynthos was a wonderful place to spend three days, just about 150 meters from the sea. The nearby beach was among the cleanest we’ve visited, with fine sand and shallow water that gets deeper gradually, making it great for families with young children. A highlight was walking along the beach to the church of Agios Nikolaos. Mrs. Roula and Mr. Dionysis were so hospitable and helped us with whatever we needed, which made the stay even more enjoyable.

The bed was comfortable, which matters most to me. The owner was very welcoming. We booked on booking, and the listing said “sea view.” There is a sea view, just not from the bedroom we stayed in.

The owners were always kind and smiling. The rooms were quiet and clean, just a one-minute walk from the beach. Those big verandas were a real plus, with room for all of us to sit, play, or eat. A very nice choice.
