Mr Tasos was a real plus: friendly, chatty, and generous with information about getting around. The guest house was very clean, including the bedding, bathrooms, and shared areas. Our bed was comfortable, though some people may find it quite hard. Breakfast was basic, not what you’d get at a five-star hotel: local pies and pastries, plain untoasted bread with butter and jam, and good coffee. Some of the food was homemade by the owner's mother, and it was delicious. Getting around was the main drawback for our family. Souvala is 7 km from the city of Egina, and without your own transport you’re relying on a bus or taxi. Taxis are expensive, and the bus to the city of Egina only runs four times a day. It’s generally not easy to travel around the island. The guest house is 300 m from the port, but the beach there isn’t very good, so for clear water you have to go to another part of Egina. Walking down to the port is also dangerous because there are no sidewalks, especially with small children. Souvala’s streets are in poor condition too, with a lack of sidewalks. The room had a small fridge and an oven/electric stove, but no glasses, plates, or cooking utensils for the small meal we wanted to make. There was no shower curtain, so the bathroom got flooded whenever we showered. We also didn’t have enough outlets for charging our phones. The room we were given was close to the street, so cars and scooters were loud, especially with the balcony door open. I wouldn’t recommend this location to families without their own transport. For a couple exploring Egina, with time to walk or the option to rent a car or bike, it’s good value for money.

The upper flats are lovely, and the breakfast and breakfast room are nice too. A pleasant place to stay.

The hotel and our room had lovely decor, with handmade details and unusual touches that gave the place a special feel. Homemade pastries were a treat every day, and the staff were friendly and helpful. The owner was especially kind and welcoming, and you can tell they take care to make guests comfortable and looked after. Everything during our stay was excellent and at a high standard. Highly recommended!
