For the money, this is hard to beat. The view over the gulf is amazing, and Vathi is just 1 km away. Some of the furniture and other things are a bit old, but it’s still the best choice around if you’re fine driving into downtown. I’ve stayed five times and counting.

The view from Calypso is wonderful, and my room was really good value for what I paid in low season, in early to mid May. Gerasimos, his wife and the whole staff are lovely, friendly people. Gentiana and Renato gave me such a warm welcome, and they’re both super friendly. Calypso sits high on the hills around Vathy, but even before I rented a car I could walk down to town and back up. It was a perfect base for my week on Ithaca. With a rental car, it’s also a great spot for exploring both ends of the island. My room was lovely and very spacious, with a high ceiling and a balcony where I could take in the view. This place and Ithaca are special. I’d definitely come back. Thanks, guys!

I went with the basic accommodation option as a solo traveller, and it was clean and just right for what I needed. Good value, too. The hosts were so welcoming. It’s up the hill, away from town, which made it really peaceful after sightseeing. You get amazing views and lovely olive grove surroundings. Recommended!

The owner was gentle, polite and very helpful. The place is beautifully appointed, with private parking and a magnificent view of Vathy. It’s quiet, only two minutes from the esplanade, without the noise.

Such a kind host, and a fantastic room with a great view. Even getting up and down to the village on an e-bike was no problem. A really amazing place to stay.
