We spent five days in June 2024 in the first villa at Vederi Estate, and it worked perfectly for our family of five. The place was peaceful, with great facilities, comfortable beds, air conditioning, and a lovely pool. The shaded parking and remote-controlled gate made coming and going easy. You'll need a car: the nearest small town is an uphill 20-minute walk, a challenge unless you're fit and up for it. The outdoor area had great loungers, dining space, and lovely views over the nearby hills. The estate managers and team were quick and helpful on WhatsApp. A fantastic place to stay, highly recommended.

The setting is peaceful and beautiful, and it feels quite remote. We woke each morning to birdsong and sheep bells, though Prines and its excellent tavernas are only 1.3 km away, and Rethymno is about 8 km away. This isn't a place for a wild party. George sent us a detailed welcome guide on WhatsApp, including a long list of his personal restaurant recommendations, which I'd happily follow. He clearly wants guests to feel comfortable and stays hands-on, with great on-site help from Fotini. We were, I think, the first guests of spring, after the pandemic years, and had a couple of minor issues. George kept checking on them and apologizing while they were sorted. He seemed to take anything less than perfect very personally. The property is lovingly built, and the villa my wife and I stayed in in April 2022 was furnished to a very high standard. I can't imagine a better base for enjoying the beauty of Western Crete.

Friends were staying in this large house set among an olive 🫒 grove, and we went over for a visit and a pre-wedding pool party. Getting there may be a little tricky, but Google Maps helped a lot. There was plenty of parking, with remote-controlled gates and so on.
