Stone Village

The animals and cats wander around the grounds, so if you don’t like animals, this may not be the place for you. We saw some unacceptable behaviour from guests who were annoyed by them. Remember, you’re a guest in their space, not the other way around, and you don’t get to dictate what it should look like. We had one of our nicest stays at Stone Village Hotel in Bali. The people there were welcoming, always smiling and ready to help, which made us feel at home. It’s peaceful and surrounded by nature, while still close to the beach and Bali’s center. You can walk or take the little train. The stone houses and gardens make for a beautiful, relaxing setting. The food was excellent, with plenty of fresh, homemade options at breakfast and dinner. Even when we arrived late, they made sure we had something to eat. It has a warm feeling, not just like a hotel, and I’d recommend it to anyone looking for friendly people, good food, and a nice location in Bali.

Our group of three sisters and three brothers-in-law lives in different countries and has come back to this fabulous place six times over the past seven years. It feels like our home away from home, with wonderfully friendly, hospitable people. We love the atmosphere at Stone Village. The traditional, eclectic decor is a little dark but full of charm, and it has a setting and character you won’t find elsewhere. The hospitality and value are excellent. You won’t find another place in Crete offering breakfast and buffet dinners at this price in this setting. Of course, you can find faults if you look for them. Kids can go horseback riding and use the pool.

A spacious room that stayed cool and was cleaned every day, with kind staff. The village is an authentic spot among the hills, with home-style cooking and lots of animals on the farm. We had a great time and recommend it to people who don’t like mass tourism.

Our first room didn’t match what we expected from the booking description, but receptionist Dimitro helped move us to a cozy, comfortable one. The staff were all amazing, especially with our little one-year-old daughter. Janis and Natasa took great care of us, and the food was tasty and changed regularly. This place completely enchanted us. Walking in under a canopy of rose blossoms felt magical, and the way it’s built has an organized-chaos feel, like an old Greek town. We WILL come again, and I hope very soon.
