Zeus Dolce by Wyndham Athens

The setting was lovely, with the ocean in front and mountains behind. It’s peaceful around the resort, in a way that adds to the calm of the place. We were there for a few nights, and Alexandra looked after us from arrival through departure. She went out of her way to make things comfortable, handled all our needs without hesitation, and helped make the stay special. Magda was also very hospitable and took good care of us. Honestly, it was an exceptional stay.

We didn’t eat at the property, since there was a phenomenal local taverna within walking distance down the street. The beach and pool were definite pluses, and the grounds are very pretty. There’s plenty to like here, and with more upkeep and investment from Wyndham management, I think the place could be a hit. We were returning from Crete and needed a quick night before flying home. It’s close to the airport, though not right next to it. With traffic going the opposite way from Athens, the drive took about 20 minutes. For a one-night stop, the resort worked well. There are some maintenance issues, though. Our door in room 207 locked from inside but wouldn’t lock from outside. We told the staff, but nothing was done. There were also signs of general wear, including what might have been mold. Staff were generally helpful, but seemed short on resources. One other issue, which I’ve noticed across Greece, was the very limited TV selection. There was no Netflix or other content apps, so after dinner and a walk we ended up using our phones.

Our flight delay left us waiting at Athens airport for hours, so I was grateful the hotel could take us for a late-night check-in. I loved the amenities and beach access, and breakfast was delicious, with lots of choices. I’d recommend this place to anyone visiting Greece, and I can’t wait to book another trip here.

The lack of support from staff made an already uncomfortable stay worse. We struggled with our luggage and no one offered to help. Even asking for an iron was handled poorly, with no urgency or professionalism. Staff were dismissive and seemed uninterested in helping us throughout our visit. I was especially upset when someone told me I couldn’t join an excursion because I was “not French.” That felt deeply offensive and discriminatory. No guest should be excluded or treated differently because of nationality or background. Certain guests also made racist comments and displayed attitudes that left us feeling even less comfortable. Hotel staff never stepped in or offered support, and made no effort to ensure we felt safe and respected. From the moment we arrived, the atmosphere felt unwelcoming. Both staff and some guests treated us differently in a way that came across as racist and discriminatory. A hotel should welcome people regardless of race or background. That wasn’t our experience, and given the poor hospitality, lack of support, and discriminatory environment, I wouldn’t recommend staying here.
