Zen Rocks Mani Retreat

Zen Rocks is a peaceful, strikingly beautiful spot at the southern tip of the Greek Peloponnese. I’ve just been there for a spiritual retreat with Krishna Das and fifty others, and it felt like a perfect place for it. The buildings are made from local rock, the accommodation is first class, and the vegetarian food is delicious. The staff were a delight, especially Eraj & Vivi, Katerina and Eleni, John, Abdul and several others.

The owners, Vivi and Eraj, make this place feel like what it stands for: a calm spirit, an open outlook, and real warmth in every interaction. You can feel their care in how guests are welcomed and in the thoughtful rooms and yoga spaces. The food is extraordinary, with nourishing whole ingredients and bright, creative flavors. Evenings bring some of the most breathtaking sunsets I’ve seen, and doing yoga or meditation outdoors on the deck is unforgettable. Surrounded by olive groves, with endless Mediterranean views, the property has a deep sense of peace from the moment you arrive. Zen Rocks stays with you after you leave. It’s a rare gem.

The team did so much to make me feel welcome, and I loved the delicious vegetarian food at the restaurant. My room was spotless, with its own kitchen and a balcony looking out to sea. From the moment I arrived at Zen Rocks, I felt a real inner calm that took me away from my hectic life in the US. The resort is fabulous, with a crystal clear pool overlooking the sea and beautiful sunsets. Morning yoga and Pilates came with views that felt out of this world. I can’t wait to return.

During my stay in December 2024 and January 2025, I was ridiculed and verbally attacked by Vivi and her husband, Iraj. The communal kitchen was unsanitary too, with dog hair on the eating table and maggots in the spices. Vivi first came across as a peaceful, loving spiritual yoga mentor. For the owners of such a picturesque, serene retreat center not to practice what they teach is truly a shame.
