Le Grand Bleu Resort

We had a peaceful, luxurious stay at Le Grand Bleu Resort, set on an olive-covered hill in Derveni. The view over the sea from the suites’ terraces or infinity pools is panoramic. Our modern, spacious suite was carefully designed, and everything was meticulously clean, with a simple high-end feel throughout. The staff were personal, welcoming and attentive, and breakfast was excellent. Watching the sunset by the pool was unforgettable. It’s away from the beaten path, which adds to the quiet atmosphere. An extraordinary romantic escape.

The views were breathtaking, the staff pleasant and helpful, and our modern room was well equipped. But the breakfast was a major letdown for a 5-star hotel. There was mostly bread, and it wasn’t very fresh. The hot sandwiches had cheap sausage, and the egg dishes were swimming in oil. We weren’t impressed with dinner at the restaurant either. I also wish the pool were heated. At the end of September it was so cold that swimming was practically impossible. We’ve stayed at similar hotels with heated pools for a little more money, and I’d rather pay extra and enjoy the stay fully.

The sunset was incredible. I took 50 pictures and still couldn’t capture how beautiful it really was. The sparkling sea, distant mountains and quiet feel of the small resort made the stress disappear as soon as we reached the breathtaking infinity pool overlooking the water. Our plans in Greece changed this year, and Matt luckily found this practically brand new hidden gem. The food and staff were exceptional too. Ifigenia greeted us warmly at the front desk and made us feel welcome straight away. At dinner, Christos and Helen were attentive and charming throughout. After our extraordinary meal, Chef Christos came out to chat and thank us. You can’t go wrong booking here. You’re sure to have a beautiful experience!

We stayed for seven days, longer than most, and enjoyed every one. The staff were friendly and helpful, and the breakfast was relaxed, served in the room instead of as a buffet. I think that’s a good thing, with no worrying over getting the best spot, and nothing was missing from the meal. The hotel is incredibly beautiful, with wonderful views of the Gulf and mountains. It’s a quiet place to unwind, with a small town in the valley and everything you need for a relaxing holiday. Fantastic, we’ll be back.
