Mil Flores Luxury Design Hotel

The people here made the stay a pleasure. The staff checked in often, handled every request with care, and the restaurant team were consistently excellent. Breakfast is included and was delicious. We chose to eat in the front courtyard, though they can bring it to your room. Clio's restaurants in the same building were also excellent, both the patio and indoor options. We ate there several times in Antigua, and the food was very good. The French-inspired menu looks huge at first, but many dishes are variations on each other. We also had cocktails at the bar, where the bartenders were on point. Our room was Lilies, the one regular room among the hotel's four rooms, alongside three suites. It was gorgeous, with classic architecture and a fresh renovation full of thoughtful, luxurious details. The huge shower felt like a spa, the bed linens were quality, and the soundproofing was so good that we slept well despite the busy road. The suites apparently have private or semi-private courtyard pools, so we had the main pool to ourselves. This is the sort of place worth making a trip for.

The staff were excellent, and the rooms are spacious and lovely. The complimentary breakfast was a big plus, too.

I booked about five months ahead. A couple of weeks before the stay, the hotel sent a revised bill showing a 300 percent increase, then charged me that amount without asking. My bill went from $120 to over $600, and neither my calls nor emails got an explanation. I've been disputing the charges with my credit card company, but they keep charging me. If this continues, I'll have to get a new card number. Buyer beware.

Villa Las Mil Flores was an incredible stay, and we're already making plans to come back. It's a luxury boutique-style hotel with just four rooms at the moment, in a gorgeous spot close to everything Antigua has to offer. We stayed in Hortencias, a spacious, comfortable suite with exquisite colonial-style decor that suits Antigua beautifully. The open-concept bathroom was unusual, but both innovative and comfortable to use. Service was attentive and impeccable throughout, and everything we ate and drank was delicious. Can't wait to return!
