The place and rooms were actually very nice, but we paid for air conditioning and got a fan. Similar rooms with fans instead of AC were $30-$50 cheaper for the five nights we booked. I raised it with the owner, who said the listing didn’t promise air conditioning. When I offered to show her manager where it said exactly that, she realized she was wrong. I hate feeling deceived, so we left and booked somewhere else. I can’t recommend staying here after that.
The room was clean, tidy, and comfortable, and the bathrooms were great and clean too. We booked through Airbnb, and the price for three people seemed excellent. The location is fantastic for getting to the tourist attractions, though the place could be quieter. Our room was near the street, where cars started going by around 4 a.m. The noise didn’t bother me and I could sleep, but others might find it annoying. I noticed there are three bedrooms, with the other two farther inside the house. It’s a cozy place to consider for a stay in Antigua Guatemala.
We booked well in advance through Booking.com so we could enjoy the city during Easter. After a long trip, we arrived and weren’t allowed in. The owners ignored our messages, and we couldn’t reach them. Eventually another guest at this awful place got in touch with the staff, who said they hadn’t worked with Booking.com since January. Why was the offer still on their website, and why hadn’t they seen the booking email? We were left without a place to stay during Easter, when every room in the city was already booked. If the owners had contacted us earlier, we could have found somewhere else or changed our plans. Thankfully it was the middle of the day, not nighttime. The owner’s replies were outrageously unpleasant too. A complete drama.
A great place to stay, with a privileged location and easy access to the highway out of Antigua Guatemala.
