Hotel Eterna Primavera Antigua

It's a pleasant stay, and the staff are friendly and professional. I'm just not sure it offers good value for money. Our stays in Guatemala City and Panajachel cost less and got us better quality accommodation. Maybe room rates are generally higher in Antigua. The hotel has lots of character and history, and it's centrally located, less than 10 minutes from Parque Central de Antigua Guatemala. Cafes, restaurants, convenience stores, and pharmacies are all nearby, and you can walk to Antigua's places of interest. We arrived for a very late check-in at 1.30 AM, and the hotel arranged an airport transfer. Check-in was fast. We stayed six nights, and breakfast was included with enough variety on the menu. They make it to order, with eggs, toast, fruits, and coffee or tea. Service was fast and friendly, and breakfast in the garden was very pleasant. Our room was spacious but very basic. The bed and pillows were comfortable, the bathroom was clean, the hot water was consistent, and the WIFI worked consistently too. The rooms face the courtyard, so it isn't very quiet. Our neighbors argued often. It was amusing sometimes, but not great when we wanted to relax.

The location is the one thing this place has going for it. The rooms are warm and humid, and the walls are so thin you can hear people whispering and using the toilet in the morning. Noise from neighboring venues kept me awake until around 10, when they finally quieted down. The rooms are below average, and breakfast was just okay, with average coffee. The staff weren't welcoming or friendly; they mostly spoke to guests to lay out rules and restrictions. There are plenty of other places where you can have a good or even great stay. I'd avoid this one if possible.

It's peaceful and pleasant, but what you pay feels a little steep for what's included.

Room 2 was much too dark, and we could hear even people whispering as they walked by outside. A bar next door has live music every night, too. Quite a few things in the room didn't work, which was disappointing. The service, on the other hand, was lovely: we had to leave before breakfast to climb Acatenango, so we asked whether they could have coffee ready early. They kindly packed each of us a full bag of food and drinks.
