El Carmen is a charming hotel in a perfect spot for exploring town. The staff are always trying to help, and there’s a lovely patio and a wonderful rooftop. My only issue was the AC. If air conditioning matters to you, make sure the unit in your room works. I had trouble getting cold air, and a friend’s room had AC problems during the same stay. At times the staff couldn’t figure out what was wrong.

We had a fabulous stay right in the center of everything. The staff welcomed us in English with such a positive attitude, and were friendly and helpful. We arrived early, but they held our bags so we could start exploring Antigua. The hotel was beautiful and clean, the breakfast was delicious, and our rooms were lovely, very clean, and comfortable, with great beds and plenty of cool air. We’d absolutely stay again!

We stayed at El Carmen Hotel twice, first before our Volcan Fuego excursion and again after we got back. It worked really well as a base in Antigua. Our group of three had a roomy triple room, and the single room was plenty big too. Both had great amenities. Breakfast was phenomenal, especially looking out at Volcan Fuego erupting in the morning.

The restaurant view was phenomenal, and breakfast was the best we had on our travels. Daniel even remembered how we liked our eggs and coffee with milk. The staff were lovely, the hotel is full of beautiful greenery, and our room had everything we needed. The bed was comfortable, and the little towel sculptures were cute. Fabulous stay.

The restaurant food was so good that even if I couldn't get a room here next time, I'd still come back to eat. The hotel itself is beautiful and charming, and the location is great. Everyone on staff was friendly too. If I return, I'd definitely try to stay here again.
