Hotel La Sin Ventura

Everything is walkable from this hotel in central Antigua, with Parque Central Antigua right next door. The staff were welcoming, the service was impeccable, and my room was very clean. They also offer laundry service: leave a bag of clothes with the staff in the morning and it comes back clean and neatly folded by 5:00 p.m. the same day. That's especially handy after volcano hikes when your clothes are dusty. The value for money is unbeatable. I highly recommend it.

The location is great, but this is a very noisy hotel, with such poor room acoustics that you can hear nearly everything on your floor. During my three-night stay, disturbances woke me every morning: guests' early alarms for the Fuego hike around 6am, staff knocking for wake-up calls, and loud conversations and shouting in the halls. From 8am, staff cleaned rooms using walkie-talkies at high volume, with constant, unpleasant high-frequency static. I could even hear intimate activity clearly from the next room because there's so little soundproofing. If you're looking for rest or a peaceful stay, this isn't the place.

The rooms are basic, but the beds were comfortable and clean, and it was a comfy place for a short stay. The staff were nice and attentive. It's right near the main square. Our stay was enjoyable, and I didn't find it noisy or uncomfortable at night. I'd stay again.

I've stayed here on three separate occasions, mainly for its central location, good value single room, and luggage storage. It's not a luxury hotel, but for the price it does the job, and the friendly, attentive staff and good security meant I could leave my bags without worrying. You can walk everywhere from here. My main issue was the airflow: rooms only have windows facing the corridor, and it could get hot during the day. They provide a fan like device, but other than that I was fine staying here.
