Hotel Mansion del Rey

The beds were very comfortable, but there were loads of cockroaches in our room. Every time we thought we'd killed them all, more appeared, and we occasionally found them in the bathroom too. We were housed outside the main building, a few buildings away, right beside the kitchen, so we could hear and smell it.

The location was the only good thing for us. Our booking was canceled without notice or any explanation. I called the Booking app to find out what was happening, and they said the cancellation had no reason to be made. The parking area was a mess because of construction, and they tried to move us to a room without a restroom while charging us as if it had one. Staff were rude and inattentive, with no solution beyond telling us to leave and offering reimbursement. There were roaches in the rooms, standing water, and no privacy because conversations carried easily. If roaches don't bother you, book there. Otherwise, don't go.

Rooms and food are affordable, and the location is great. But the room I got was in a more modest building two houses away, not the main building with the beautiful patio antigüeño shown in the pictures. That felt misleading. Also, termites in the wooden ceiling above my bed left bits of wood on the covers.

We especially appreciated that they welcome small, well-behaved dogs. That was a huge plus for us. The staff were friendly and accommodating, breakfast was delicious, and the rooms were comfortable. The location is convenient too, close to the central park and Mercado. We had a wonderful stay and would recommend it.
