The colonial balcony and its mountain view were lovely. Almost everything else made this a miserable stay. There was loud noise that kept me from sleeping, and after some hesitation they moved me, but into a cheaper room. The sink was literally coming loose, there was no AC, and getting basic service felt like begging. The phones seemed decorative since there was no room service. They wanted $350 for transport, while I paid $63 for the same trip elsewhere. They also charged $10 for checking in one hour early, despite the problems. For several hours there was no water after that charge, and later there was no hot water either. I accidentally left something important behind. They inspected the room before checkout as if guests might steal, but didn’t notice or mention the item I’d forgotten. They then wanted $100 to send it to my address, and even more to send it to my next hotel, two hours away. The whole experience felt focused on taking money rather than caring for guests. The conditions were terrible. Stay away; you’ll regret it.

Erick at the restaurant was the bright spot. He was kind, attentive, and really tried to help us. The room was uncomfortable, though: mold was visible in the shower vent, the bathroom was tiny, and the water never warmed up. With no air conditioning, we had to leave the unscreened window open, which didn’t feel secure. We also had trouble getting help at the front desk. Richard was often slow to follow up and not much help. We asked several times about booking the advertised massage and nobody got back to us. When we needed an airport ride for our 2:45 PM flight, we were first told to leave extremely early. Even after the time was changed, we still got there far earlier than needed. The hotel fell short of basic expectations, and I wouldn’t stay again.

The place was gorgeous, and that bed may be the most comfortable one in all of Guatemala. We splurged for the night and it was worth it.

A lovely courtyard and nice rooms, with an especially handy location. We could walk to nearly anything we wanted to see in Antigua.

The courtyard is amazing and the view is great. Everything, from the rooms to the grounds, was really clean and well kept, and smelled good too.
