The quiet was a surprise: even with Hotel Posada Don Rodrigo right in the middle of Antigua, my garden room stayed peaceful. It was spacious and clean, with old world charm, a comfortable bed and pillows, and great shower pressure. The gardens are kept beautifully and are a real treat to look at. You're just steps from Santa Catalina Arch and Central Park, with cafes, restaurants, and bars close by. The staff were consistently friendly and helpful, and the on-site restaurant served excellent food with equally good service. Hotels often don't live up to their online photos and descriptions, but this one far exceeded what I'd seen online. For the price, it was exceptional value and one of my best hotel experiences from years of traveling around Latin America.

The history gives this beautiful hotel plenty of stories, and the location is just right, really picturesque. I loved the colorful gardens. The rooms are large, though old, which is what you'd expect in a historic place. They didn't feel especially clean, and we had a small ant problem in the bathroom. Still, that's part of staying in an older property.

I'm writing this from the taxi on my way out, which I rarely do. The staff were attentive, quick to respond, and courteous throughout, and the rooms were clean. The property itself is beautiful, and the location puts you right in the middle of all the action. One of the best stays I've had.

We were desperate for somewhere to stay over the holiday weekend, so after the first room was absolutely covered in mold, we took another one. It had mold too, just not as much. The staff mocked us and were rude when we tried to get breakfast and a snack. The bed was hard as a rock. It has historic charm, but staying here feels like risking mold exposure worse than at any Motel 8 in the States.

The old-fashioned keys and charming rooms made me feel like I was part of a royal family, as if I'd gone back in time. Breakfast was delicious, and the hotel is close to all the sights we wanted to see. I couldn't recommend it more.
