The views are stunning, and getting here from Antigua by helicopter was easy, though expensive. The spa felt like good value, with a big treatment menu and a sauna overlooking the scenery. There are two restaurants on site. The food was good, but priced like a resort. Juan Carlos was a great host, and Fausto was attentive and really helpful. There are plenty of free things to do, including kayaks and SUP, plus paid experiences like tortilla making and the shaman ceremony. Go see the chicken coop. Check the event calendar before booking, though. Weddings at the Kinnik restaurant can be noisy and might limit where you can eat.

The villa was stunning, with gorgeous decor, blooming gardens, and panoramic views from two balconies. We loved that there was a private spiral staircase down to the infinity pool. The rooms were cleaned daily, and although the walk up to the villa was a bit of a climb, they offer rides each day to make it easier. The staff were attentive to our requests and the service was top notch. I left my luggage and iPhone at the front desk while we went to a nearby town; everything was safe when I returned. Staying at Casa Pólopo was the most beautiful part of our trip to Guatemala. I highly recommend it for a Lake Atitlan stay.

The lake suite is such a treat. Even the bathroom has a floor-to-ceiling lake view, so you can soak in the bath and look out at the water. They came and prepared the bath ritual for me, which I loved and had many times. The massage therapist was amazing and got the pressure just right. There's also private access to the lake. I'd happily come back, highly recommend!

The people and service were lovely, but we had a hard time with the food in the main restaurant. It wasn't very tasty or modern, and the local dishes felt dreary. We mentioned it, though the staff didn't seem trained to take criticism and simply thanked us for the comments. It's an old hotel in a beautiful area. It feels a little run down instead of like a 'chateau', and the smaller rooms are missing some finer details, like a makeup mirror. We upgraded.

The infinity pool and jacuzzi at the top of the hill have incredible views, and we spent a relaxing afternoon up there. Breakfast was fair and included in our room rate, though I think a small à la carte menu with a few more choices would make it even better. We were welcomed right away at the gate by Juan and the staff, who helped with our bags. Check-in was easy, and we sat inside with a refreshing hibiscus drink while enjoying the view. The property made an instant impression. Every morning, cocoa and other drinks arrived at our room, and at night the turndown service left creative surprises on the bed with a card and small local souvenirs. The worry doll was my favorite. We loved our stay and will definitely return.
