Grand Caporal Hotel

For nine years I’ve brought mission teams here while we serve in the area, and the hotel has always looked after us well. They have enough facilities for groups both small and large, plus restaurants on site. The staff and service are better than at any hotel I’ve stayed in. It’s absolutely the best hotel around.

The pools are lovely, the people are friendly, and the room was very comfortable. My room was farthest from the center, so I had to wait a little for the warm water to reach the shower. The map location for the hotel points to the restaurant; the hotel itself is about 300 feet farther back. There’s another hotel with a restaurant on the other side of the entrance driveway, though there’s nothing wrong with this hotel’s restaurant. The other features are as described. Sue Ellen speaks excellent English, though of course she isn’t there around the clock. We were on our way to Esquipulas and Copan.

The food was amazing, and the staff were just as great.

The place looks attractive at first, but the problems showed up quickly. Our beds were old and uncomfortable, the toilet seat was broken, and the sink kept clogging. The rooms have little or no sound insulation, so conversations in the hallway came through clearly. On my second day, construction workers started outside my window at 7 AM with loud music. I’d hoped to sleep in on vacation, but had to get up. We couldn’t rest properly, and I wouldn’t recommend staying here. Save your money, it isn’t worth it.
