Hotel Casazul

The location is great, and the staff were very friendly. We booked two months before arriving, but nobody told us that Flores would have no power from 7 am to 6 pm on our only full day there. We found out just ten minutes before it went off, and weren't told at check-in either. With the power out, the restaurants we'd planned to visit were mostly closed, ATMs didn't work, and open stores couldn't take cards. I live in a country with frequent outages, so I know they happen, sometimes often. My complaint is that the hotel never emailed us about this scheduled outage. If we'd known, we could have rearranged our day. I raised it with the parent company, but their response was unsatisfactory.

The lake-facing deck on the second floor was nice. The place was very clean, in a great location, and the staff were helpful. Nothing really stood out beyond that.

We really enjoyed our three nights here in central Flores, with a beautiful lake view. The hotel has a family-like feel, and the reception staff are so friendly they seem to know every guest personally. Our room was spacious, with a big comfortable bed, a good shower, and air conditioning and a fan that worked wonderfully together. We could see the lake directly from the room and sit on the small balcony, protected from mosquitoes. Breakfast is served at a nearby hotel, just a charming two or three minute walk away.

The location is perfect, but the rooms were smelly and in bad shape. The place was very disorganized, and the add-on tours and transport were expensive and overpriced.
