6a Avenida is close by and great for walking and shopping, with some cool architecture. A few of the surrounding roads felt a little sketchy, though. We were only here for one night after flying in, before heading to Antigua. The place has a unique, historic bed and breakfast feel, and everyone was really friendly. Sophie speaks English, which helped a lot, while Jessica and Fernanda were patient and welcoming as we communicated through a translator app. Breakfast was tasty. The road outside was a bit noisy, but I imagine that’s common at places in a big city. Sophie also helped us arrange a private driver to Antigua at a competitive rate.

The bathroom was spacious and modern, with excellent hot water and strong pressure. There’s no AC, but a fan and drinking water were provided in the room. We liked having extra space in the large double room, which cost the same as a regular double. The old fireplaces and roomy interior give the building lots of charm. The mattress felt a bit lumpy and could probably use replacing, and the WiFi wasn’t good in our room. Breakfast was local style, with coffee and juice. Traffic noise was much less than we expected. The main walking street, with its lovely buildings and interesting shops, is only a few blocks away.

We had a pleasant stay in a nice location. The old house is charming, and the friendly staff made it feel like home. I thought breakfast could be better or more substantial, with ingredients like fruit or juice.

The street noise was the one drawback, though that comes with being in the city centre. Fernanda prepared a good breakfast, and General Manager Sophie was very helpful arranging cars for our next destination. The historic house has a lovely breakfast area and living room, and it’s centrally located in Zona 1. Everything was clean and well appointed, and the staff were very helpful. We really enjoyed having such a relaxing place to unwind.

Fernanda was so hospitable, and she’s a great cook. I had a wonderful stay and enjoyed meeting other guests who were there to experience a step back in time. It’s an impressive, well-kept colonial and baroque home from the 19th century, with hand-painted solid wood floors, local artists’ paintings and art, and antique furniture. There are so many stories about the house and area, and the granddaughter Sofia can share them if you stay in her homely place. My room happened to have no hot water. Since the weather was 85 degrees, it didn’t bother me, and I didn’t mention it, so it may be easy to fix. No other reviews mentioned it, so it was probably a one-off.
