Hostal Guatefriend's - Hostel

A handy place for a night before a flight. The staff were really helpful, and the included breakfast was good. The beds were pretty comfortable, though I wasn’t keen on them not having pillow covers. They also offer a free ride to the airport, so it’s good value for an overnight stay.

I was really glad I stayed here. The receptionist was kind and easy to communicate with, and breakfast is included in the morning. They’ll give you a fan if you’re warm or thick blankets if you get cold, and the showers have warm water. The hostel can be noisy from the planes, so bring earplugs if that bothers you. It didn’t bother me. They also offer free airport transportation.

The beds were comfortable and the room was nice and very clean. Their own minibus runs a free airport shuttle, which is a useful touch, though they give you more information than necessary and it could be clearer. I waited an hour for pickup, so don’t stress about it and just walk. The hostel is about a 4-minute drive or 10-minute walk from the airport. Breakfast was pretty disappointing. A little more fruit, or some butter or jam for the bread, would help.

The staff were friendly, the bathrooms were clean, and I especially liked the showers. There are patios where you can hang out, plus fresh breakfast in the morning. Free shuttles to the airport run every hour, which is convenient. It’s also close to lots of restaurants that deliver, and not far from central Guatemala City or the airport. 10/10, I’d recommend it.
