Hotel Gran Central

The price is hard to beat, and the location works really well. I've been staying here on and off for the past six months.

The food was nice.

For what they charge, especially in a central Zone 1 location, I expected better service and upkeep. The food was poor, and the floor in my room was dusty and dirty, with food scraps and trash left behind as if nobody had swept or mopped. The bed sagged enough that someone not used to it could wake up with back pain. The pillows and comforters were faded and worn, and my room had no shower curtain, so water splashed around while I showered. We booked a single room and a double room but paid the same price for both, perhaps because they each had a private bathroom. This isn't a luxury hotel, but these things still need attention.

I've stayed here ten times or more, but after what happened today I can't recommend it. I called to reserve a room with a private bathroom. They checked and confirmed they had one, then checked again and told me the same thing. It took me only about five minutes to get there from roughly a block and a half away from the Litegua, and once I arrived they said there was no such room and that they'd made a mistake. That left me feeling exposed to the risk of being robbed, since the area isn't exactly safe. The staff service was terrible, and they raised room prices without changing anything. The showers still have no curtains, which makes a huge mess. Even before this incident, the service hadn't been great.
