Hotel Ixbalanque

We had a great experience here about two years ago, but this year was a complete reversal. It’s right next to the airport, which was convenient, yet we had to walk despite telling the front desk we needed the advertised free shuttle. They also advertise free parking, but had only two spaces available. The bathroom door was nearly coming off the wall, and there was a used towel waiting for us. It was way overpriced, and I definitely wouldn’t recommend it.

The hostel worked really well for our group of more than 20. There’s a meeting and living room upstairs, a big dining area on the first floor, and an open courtyard with seating. I stayed for a week with a large group of travelers, and the rooms were all different and spacious. Mine was upstairs, with six bunk beds and access to a huge open-air patio overlooking the mountains. It had a large fan for warm days and good bedding for cooler nights. The wifi was hit or miss, but that’s understandable with more than 20 people, including teens, using it.

Whenever I travel home, I stay at this lovely place near the airport, with lots of taxi access. I’d recommend it 100 percent. Thank you for a good experience. My family enjoys it too.

It’s literally a couple of steps from the airport, so it’s a great option when you’re traveling. The place is nice and quiet, and the staff are awesome and ready to help. I’d recommend it to everyone.
