Villa Nola

I booked two weeks for my vacation more than a month in advance, but was put in a small room in a hostal. They said it was because of plumbing problems, but it turned out someone had booked the entire hotel. The owner offered two nights at a hotel in Antigua as compensation, then never called or contacted me with the details. Very unprofessional. Housekeeping was excellent, but I’ll never book here again.

My flights were cancelled, leaving me stranded at the airport, so I arrived here around 3:30AM. The room was clean, the bed smelled of fresh linen, and breakfast was included.

The morning staff member who served us was very friendly, though breakfast was a bit meager. Apart from her, the stay was disappointing. The rooms were very dirty. The beds were clean, but the bathroom was a nightmare, with a terrible shower and cockroaches, and the cupboards smelled awful. The person who checked us in was a complete disaster, as if we were the first guests. She showed us a list of hotel rules and said her boss charged extra for everything. When we needed help calling a local number, she said they had no phone and she had no credit. She also asked if we knew which room was ours. We asked for a hairdryer and she laughed, then said she’d get one. A couple of hours later I went out to collect it, but she was gone. When the colleague replacing her called, she said we were liars and that she’d never said that. We were stunned. Honestly, this was the worst place we stayed in all of Guatemala.

A lovely place to stay in Guatemala City, and very close to the airport.
