There’s a good restaurant with nice views, and they offer free pickup and drop-off in town when you arrive or leave. Angela was especially helpful, sharing lots of tour ideas, including nice places you can reach on local transport. It’s one of the few accommodations you can enter and leave on foot, with a path at the back running through mangroves and a plantation to the main road. The rooms are clean and comfortable, with a nice shower and good wifi, and the staff are really kind and helpful. You can hear traffic from the bridge, especially at night, but that’s true of all the accommodations in this area.

The lodge is nice, the food is good, and the staff are excellent, but the bridge noise made for a horrible stay and a terrible night's sleep. Trucks ground up and down all night. Sorry, I can’t recommend it. Stay on the other side of the bridge, where it’s much quieter.

After we sorted out the booking, the rest of the stay was perfect. The location is lovely, safe, and calm. We took a boat trip, swam in the lake, and had a great time. The manager was helpful and gave us lots of useful advice. The food was fantastic, especially breakfast and dinner. It was the best food we had during our 2 weeks in Guatemala. Thank you, we enjoyed our stay! The booking itself was a rough start. The manager told us there was a problem with our reservation for a family room with 1 double and 2 single beds: apparently we’d only paid for 2 adults and needed to pay another about GTQ 900 for our 2 children for 2 nights. We hadn’t expected that. We booked 3 months ahead and couldn’t understand why nobody had told us earlier. The manager said bookings on Booking.com require the kids’ ages, but we booked directly on the hotel website, which didn’t ask for their ages. My husband showed how he had made the reservation. After 10 minutes of discussion, the manager agreed not to charge us extra for the room, but said we still had to pay for the children’s breakfasts. We accepted that compromise. Please make the booking system clearer.

The cottage was pure magic, with a little hammock and deck that made a perfect place to unwind. My husband Gary and I had the best time here. The setting is beautiful and so relaxed, and we spent our days swimming off the deck and lounging in the hammock. Angela and Leo are lovely and couldn’t have made our stay any better. Angela was always there to answer our questions. We’d go back in a heartbeat 💗
