Marbella Eco Lodge

This stay was very disappointing and expensive for what we got. I travel to the beach often, and we chose this place based on the advertising, but won't return. The beds were rock hard and the pillows old. The room was tiny and hot, and the person showing us around didn't know how to use the AC, so maintenance had to come turn it on. The bathroom's slightly frosted sliding glass door still lets you see what's happening inside, which was awkward sharing with friends. The room wasn't clean either: there was trash in the bathroom and the shower was dirty. The pool was okay, but there's no lazy river, despite how the photos make it look. The beach frontage was the only plus for the location. It's too far from town, and they offered no help getting there. They need transportation for guests without a car. Arrival was a mess. They wouldn't let us in through the side door, then took ages to find our name and reservation while we waited in the hot, dusty road. They should have greeted us and given us shade. There was no reception or real welcome. A very young girl took us to the room, and the only people we saw were her and a maid. We never saw the owner. The restaurant service was painfully slow, even when we were the only customers. The same girl served us and would disappear or get absorbed in her phone and forget about us. The food was basic and overpriced, and the drinks weren't good. There was no manager on site and no proper reception, just poor service throughout. They should lower the price, set up a welcoming reception, and put hammocks on the beach instead of hiding them behind the restaurant. Avoid the place until management lowers prices and gets more help. Very disappointed 😞

There are vegan options, and the food was really good. From the high deck, we had a beautiful sunset view. The palm trees give plenty of natural shade, so it's easy to sit with a book or get some work done. The lovely couple who run the place make you feel at home, and they have lots of interesting stories if you're up for a chat. Deutsch is auch gesprochen!😀

We had the beach practically to ourselves and got to try several Spanish dishes. Right away, the hotel host and owner made us feel welcome. They looked after us all weekend, upgraded us to a room by the beach, and brought deck chairs down to the sand. We also had some great conversations. We drove to Monterrico for a relaxing weekend and left happy.

Great for families, with comfortable air-conditioned rooms and a fantastic pool. It's a really nice spot on a quieter stretch of Monterrico's black sand beach.
