Hotel Colibrí Eco Lodge

The room was great, and the staff were nice. I enjoyed my stay here while vacationing in Guatemala and visiting the lake.

Hi, pay close attention when booking here. I reserved the suite with a jacuzzi for four days, but someone else had it when I arrived. The receptionist and manager charged me the suite rate for a basic room. I caught it and pointed it out, otherwise I would have paid the full amount. The service offered really doesn’t match the price, and I wouldn’t recommend it for value. There are plenty of more worthwhile hotels in Panajachel. Thanks to the chef and his team for smiling, they were the only ones at the hotel who did.

It’s an updated, clean room in a very unique hotel, with a decent location and friendly staff. But the road was so loud I had trouble enjoying the place or falling asleep. I had to turn the fan all the way up and play music to drown it out. When I checked out, I noticed they’d just turned on the waterfall feature, which blocked a lot of the road noise. I’m not sure why it wasn’t on during my three-day stay. It would have made things much more enjoyable.

The hotel’s vertical design surprised me, and I liked it. The kitchen and dining area sit in a semi-open space with a beautiful mountain backdrop. The location is easy to find and get to, near the market and small neighborhood shops. There’s also a nighttime taco stand selling tacos de res nearby, plus a fabric store and a tailor shop a few minutes’ walk beyond it. The room was clean, and the staff were friendly and helpful. There was a bottle of water waiting in the room, and guests can refill their own bottles from the five-gallon water containers outside the rooms. There’s hand soap by the sink and shampoo and bath gel in the shower. Breakfast is included in the room price.
