The receptionists were kind and gave us useful advice, and Casa Blanca has a pool and a nice restaurant and bar in a great part of San Pedro. But our room, number 12, faced the road and had a window that wouldn’t close, so traffic and people talking or shouting woke us very early. Renovations were also going on, with a lot of construction noise during the day. We were uncomfortable with how specifically oriented the place seemed toward Israeli tourists. The restaurant columns are covered with stickers of soldiers and the army, with political meaning. I wish the website made that clear, because it’s easy to feel like an outsider.

The lake view is lovely and the setting seemed peaceful, but the atmosphere inside felt dull. Nobody was at reception when we arrived for dinner. A young man eventually pushed a dusty menu across the counter, told us to order and pay cash there, then disappeared. He seemed bored and uninterested. We sat at a dirty table with a dirty menu and decided to leave. With staff like that, and all the dust, I don’t think the place will do well.

We had a really nice stay. The room was clean, and the location put us near restaurants and bars while still being far enough away to stay quiet. The staff were great and even upgraded our room.

We barely slept because it was so loud all night, and the location wasn’t good for us. The rooms weren’t clean, and even after asking, we didn’t get room service. The room and bathroom doors are so old they don’t open all the way and make a lot of noise. The bathroom is very outdated, and basics like soap weren’t provided. For the price, it just wasn’t worth it. Very disappointing.

The room had no Wi-Fi for me, unless I went near reception. Service was terrible too. Whenever I needed something, I had to go find reception, and the staff seemed like they didn’t want to be there. They weren’t mean, but friendly is a stretch. On arrival they said breakfast was 50Q for guests, but 7 of the 10 breakfast options were already priced at 50Q. The pool table was bent and warped, the cue ball had a chunk missing, and the sticks had no tips. Drinks cost less outside the hostel. We also had to complain to the manager about a wine pour of maybe 3oz for 40Q before it was fixed. It was loud, though everywhere I stayed here was loud. This place seems to promise too much and deliver too little. I wouldn’t stay again.
